As reported by the Mayo Clinic, the following will help you take better care of your denture:'Dentures Greenville NC'

1. Remove and rinse dentures after eating. Run water over your denture to remove food debris and other loose particles. Placing a towel on the counter will help protect the denture from breaking or cracking if you drop them.

2. Clean your mouth after removing your dentures by using a soft toothbrush or gauze to clean your tongue and palate.

3. Gently scrub your dentures at least once daily using a denture cleaner, mild soap or dishwashing liquid and a denture brush or soft toothbrush to remove food, plaque and other deposits. Avoid stiff bristled brushes, strong cleansers and harsh toothpaste as these things are too abrasive and can damage your dentures.

4. Handle dentures carefully. Be sure you don’t bend or damage the plastic when cleaning.

5. Soak dentures overnight. Most types of dentures need to remain moist to keep their shape. Place them in water or a mild denture soaking solution overnight.

6. Rinse dentures before putting them in your mouth, especially if using a denture soaking solution. These solutions can contain harmful chemicals that cause pain or burn if swallowed.

7. Schedule regular dental check ups. We will clean your dentures for you in the office. We will also check for irritation, sores and/or infection.
