Drill–less Fillings
What Would You Say to Fillings Done Without a Drill? Impossible? Not anymore! New technology has created AIR ABRASION, an exciting devise that enables the teeth to be treated for decay often without the use of the dental hand piece.
It is best described as a mini sandblaster. The unit sprays a fine stream of tiny particles that remove decay. The dentist remains in control by adjusting the amount and pressure of the powder stream. Air abrasion is best suited for small to medium cavities that will be filled with tooth colored restorations.
The advantages are:
- Only the diseased part of tooth is removed.
- Novocain is eliminated, noise of the dental drill is eliminated.
- Children and adult patients with dental anxiety find it less intimidating.
- It enables the dentist to perform multiple fillings, and the result is a natural and conservative filling.
